Day 3.
Inner Congruence
It’s great when your goals fall into
place but how often does your biggest enemy take over – your
unhelpful internal voice?
You are going for an interview but you hear yourself saying
“there is no way I’m going to get the job” or half way through
a task you think “you are rubbish at this” – and what happens?
What if I told you that this voice was actually trying to help
and you could negotiate with it?
Let’s say you are about to go into a sales meeting and all you
can hear is:
“You are never going to close today”
Ask yourself
“What positive intent are you trying to achieve by telling me
this?”
Maybe your mind would answer
“Because I do not want you to be disappointed”
And the argument could be
“Can you see that if you keep telling me I am not going to close
then I will not prepare to close and therefore I am much more
likely to be disappointed”
Take a step back uncover what your mind is trying to achieve
and discuss until you have a path that you are both happy with.
Once you and your mind is aligned you will have inner congruence.
Another classic internal voice that is common and very annoying
is the voice that criticises you after the event.
“You are always forgetting your keys, you are so stupid”
The voice is trying to make you feel bad so that you remember
them next time. However what it is actually doing is creating
an internal belief that you always forget your keys. This is
not helpful as it will cause you to do it time and time again.
A simple request to your mind when this happens can start to
solve the problem. The request could go something like this:
“Next time I am about to forget my keys, please remind me while
I am still in a position to get them. This would be a lot more
helpful than telling me later that I’m stupid.”
Sometimes through using this process you will uncover some negative
beliefs that cannot be resolved this simply and need to be tackled
in other ways. If this is the case then please have a look at
theBodyMindandSoul’s Hypnotherapy and or Personal Coaching sections.
