Day 4.
Internal Image
At some point in our lives we will look at
another person and think I wish I could be more like them -
whether it's confident, focused or energetic. Remember that
what you admire in your colleagues, friends and family is a
mirror of what can be found in you, but how you see yourself
will impact on how you interact with your world. Would you like
gain traits possessed by this other person? If so, try the following
exercise:
NLP Exercise.
Try to imagine an 'other you'.
Visualize this other you slightly in front and to the right
of you. Next pick something you are trying to achieve in your
life. It could be a great presentation, a managerial position,
whatever it is the right one large or small. Now see this other
you and start to add the characteristics on to them that you
would need in order to succeed in your goal. Including how this
other you acts. Try doing the following
How would your posture look when you had achieved this goal,
add this to your image.
What expression would you have on your face, add this to your
image.
Do you look healthy, yes? Add this to your image.
Do you look strong, at peace etc add this.
See this other you doing the actions that you would need to
do to achieve this goal, be specific. How would this other you
do these actions. See them being successful and focusing on
the keys things that need to be done.
Take time to develop a clear visualization.
Now that you have created a dynamic picture of this other you,
we are going to get ready to bring them into your subconscious
mind.
Let a mist descend between you and your other you.
Prepare your subconscious mind to get ready to absorb this other
you and take on the characteristics of this other you.
Now let the mist lift and check that you are completely happy
with the other you. If you are not then change the characteristic
and lower the mist again and repeat.
When you are completely happy with your other you, reach out
and bring them in towards you. As the other you combines with
you, you may feel a tingling as the subconscious mind changes
to accept these new behaviors.
Take two deep breaths, stretch and check how you feel.
This is a great exercise that can be tried anywhere. Do not
be upset if you find this hard at first as every new skill takes
time.
This exercise works best if you are a visual person, auditory
and sensory people would be best placed to convert this exercise
using sounds or feelings. I.e. how would this other you feel
etc.
