Day 5.
Staying Positive.
'Positive mental attitude' has been
mentioned so many times that we have almost become indifferent
to the term, but the way we lead our life depends on our mastery
of the outer (conscious) and inner (unconscious) game.
How many times have you sabotaged your success by imagining
your failure? Allow what you desire to come into your life and
learn to appreciate the future by asking your most positive
resource - your mind - to let it happen. Your subconscious is
eagerly waiting to help you.
The dialogue between conscious and unconscious existed long
before speech and relies on using pictures, emotions and all
the senses to communicate intent. The conscious mind sets the
direction and the subconscious awaits its instruction.
How do we change?
As with everything, great changes are made in little steps.
Try the following exercise:
Think of something that you want or something you want to achieve.
Here are some possible examples so that you get an idea of something
appropriate:
It could be going on a luxury holiday.
It could be achieving a particular sales or work target.
It could be buying your first house.
Now turn it into something specific. It is very important to
get specific with the item that you want to achieve. If it is
your sales quota then how many sales do you want, what type
of sales, when do you want them, who from etc. If it is an amount
of money then how much, when do you want it, how will you know
you have got it? Be specific!
Whatever it is, let's now try and get it!
Every morning when you get up and before you retire at night
I would like you to try two things.
1. Imagine yourself already in possession of the item you desire.
Visualize and use all your senses to fully experience what it
would be like to achieve this result. Imagine in your mind as
if you actually already had achieved the goal, what would you
feel like, what would you see, what would you hear. Create a
multi sensory experience of you attaining you specific goal.
If your aim is to buy a house. See that house move around it,
listen to the sounds, feel how it makes you feel, smell the
smells etc. Remembering to be specific about the house and always
picture the same house! If you are not specific your mind will
become confused.
2. Decide what you are going to give in return for receiving
this item (this is very important). Again picture, feel and
hear yourself doing this giving in exchange for the item that
you want.
Think of this as an experiment and think of ways you can test
its success.
