What is Feng Shui
Feng Shui in its true form is simply a study
of how human beings are influenced by the environment that surrounds
them. It dates back to the beginnings of civilisation when mankind
was learning to make the best out of the landscape in which
he found himself. It was important to understand some key issues,
such as where is the best place to grow crops, where would the
cattle be most productive or where would be the best place to
build a house.
While today these seem to be quite simple issues, man's very
survival depended on getting it right. In short, if you make
good use of what your environment can offer, life is good; if
you don't, then life can be more troubled.
As time went by and civilisation took hold,
detailed studies were carried out looking at exactly how an
environment can affect human beings. One of the most successful
results of this learning process came out of China, and is now
commonly known as feng shui. From simple beginnings based on
agriculture and basic survival, feng shui has developed into
a complex mathematical system incorporating geology, physics,
mathematics, philosophy, and astrology, together with human
intuition.
There are many professionals today who work
very closely to the feng shui field. For example, planners and
architects who build shopping centres, would have learned through
experience that some layouts are more "people friendly"
than others. A feng shui investigation can show just why that
is.
People respond to particular places in pretty much the same
way, and this response can be predicted using feng shui analysis.
Feng shui is a recognition and understanding
of the relationship that exists between each individual human
being and the environment around them; it can show how their
life can be affected by their surroundings. It can be used to
improve an existing environment and improves certain aspects
of life for those who live within them, or to ensure that new
building projects are really going to work in the way that is
intended.
