The Maru Spa of Bora Bora Lagoon Resort and Spa
is set amidst the branches of two 30foot Caoutchouc trees on the beachfront of the small islet of Motu Toopua, one mile across the lagoon from Bora Bora. The resort has 12 acres of lush tropical vegetation and stunning views across the lagoon to Mount Otemanu.

The treatments on offer are just as exotic as the location and feature a number of signature Tahitian treatments using herbs and remedies that have been practiced in the South Pacific for hundreds of years. There are too many to mention and all are equally indulgent. For example the Exotic Fruit Mask and Banana-Leaf Wrap starts with an invigorating exfoliation of the body using grated coconuts, sea salt and sand and is followed by a nourishing full-body mask of fresh papaya and pineapple. Slathered in this tropical mask, guests are then wrapped in banana leaves, which allow the body to absorb the rich nutrients of the fruit. Afterward the body is cleansed and refreshed in a hand-ladled floral bath.

There are also treatments for specific areas of the body which are rarely focused on in traditional western massage including Opu Huli, an abdominal massage, and steam therapy with eucalyptus and kava for the chest area. Many of the natural products used have specific purposes too, including Monoi and Tamanu Oil for the skin and hair, and the noni plant which is used for a variety of health benefits.
