Day 5
What can a good nutritionist do for you?
Only you can understand whether or not you are ready or need
to see a nutritionist straight away. But should you decide here
is an explanation of how we and many nutritionists work.
The Nutritionists recommended
by us will all be trained and qualified in Nutritional Healing.
As practitioners they will look at the patient’s history,
their story (or journey through life) and the progression of
their current picture. They will look at this as a whole to
understand the causes and ultimately the therapy that needs
to be adopted.
Within the context of Natural Nutrition, the emphasis remains
on the patient’s medical history, their ancestral history,
their past and present dietary habits and the reconstruction
of the progression of their present health picture.
The practitioner will have learnt how to read a multitude of
information in the patient’s appearance and their habits
and be able to fit this in with the continuous body-mind-spirit
that makes us all unique. They will have learnt to treat the
presenting symptoms as other clues that will help to draw up
an interpretation and not use these symptoms as the primary
cause of the patient’s current picture.
Once we have been able to put you in touch with a therapist
that you feel happy to work with, the following format will
apply;
You will be asked to fill in a brief questionnaire giving details
of your name, address etc.
You will then be asked to contact the Nutritionist to book a
suitably convenient time for a personal telephone consultation.
If you live within traveling distance of the therapist, then
a one-to-one consultation will be suggested. However, if this
is not possible, then a telephone appointment will be arranged
instead, this is preferred by many of our busier clients.
The initial consultation will take approximately an hour and
a half. The therapist will ask you a wide variety of questions,
in order to be able to establish a clear picture of you and
your individual needs and treatment.
A follow up consultation will take place within a month, again
either by phone or face-to-face depending on location. These
subsequent consultations will take about an hour. The actual
number required will obviously depend on each individual case.
During the initial consultation, your therapist will ask you
about your family background and their health, from your grandparent’s
generation to present time.
They will follow your own medical history from the day you were
born (in fact from the day you were conceived) to the present
time.
You will be asked to describe your dietary habits and to provide
a typical day’s menu (truthfully!) and also about any
medication that you are currently taking or that you have taken
in the past.
They will also need to know what, if any supplements you are
taking.
There will be other questions about the type of work that you
do or have done, whether you take any form of exercise, your
hobbies, likes and dislikes, anything in fact that is relevant
to enable your practitioner to build up a clear picture of you.
During the subsequent follow up appointments, the nutritionist
will unravel your "story" and help you to progress
towards a healthier and more enriched life. All this will be
supported by our other therapies which will be recommended to
you throughout your contact with us. This allows us not only
to inform you in what to do but also give you the techniques
to change the way you understand the world, thereby enabling
lasting change.
